Linkin Park Songs in der Kerrang Rock 100

Vor kurzem fragte das britische Musikmagazin Kerrang! ihre Leser nach ihren Top 100 Songs im Rockgeschäft und gaben dabei 100 Songs vor aus denen die Leser ihre Favoriten wählen sollten.

In der Ausgabe vom 30. März gab es dann die Auflösung und mit dabei sind auch “BURN IT DOWN” (Platz 63) und “In The End” (Platz 38) von Linkin Park, damit lassen sie unter anderem Limp Bizkit mit “Rollin’ (Air Ride Vehicle)” und die legendären Tenacious D mit “Tribute” hinter sich, aber les euch das ganze doch selbst durch, unten hab ich euch die Scans des dazugehörigen Artikels verlinkt.

In Japan wurden jetzt von MTV Japan die Nominierungen für die MTV Video Music Awards Japan veröffentlicht und LIVING THINGS wurde als Album des Jahres nominiert. Die MTV VMAJs finden am 22. Juni 2013 in der Makuhari Event Hall in Chiba, Japan statt. Die anderen Nominierten in der Kategorie lauten wiefolgt:

Linkin Park erneut Headliner der Honda Civic Tour?// Update: Maroon 5 sind Headliner!

Die Honda Civic Tour veranstaltet aktuell ein Gewinnspiel, bei dem man den kommenden Headliner der Tour raten muss, um einen Flug inklusive Hotel und Ticket für ein Tourstop der kommenden Honda Civic Tour 2013 zu gewinnen. Wohlgemerkt tourt die Honda Civic Tour durch die USA, nicht, dass es hier zu Verwechslungen kommt.

Linkin Park gewinnen den Echo Rock/Alternative International

Nach ich bereits berichtet hatte, das Linkin Park für den Echo 2013 in der Kategorie Gruppe Rock/Alternative International gemeinsam mit Muse, Green Day, Billy Talent und The Rolling Stones nominiert waren habe ich jetzt eine gute Nachricht für alle Fans.

Bei der Preisverleihung gestern konnten Linkin Park den Sieg davontragen und Joe Hahn und Mike Shinoda holten sich den Preis erstmals persönlich ab. Die Dankesrede, in der sich Mike besonders bei der deutschen Fangemeinde bedankt, die für Linkin Park eine der Loyalsten und Stärksten sind, könnt ihr euch HIER nochmal anschauen.

Linkin Park Recharge Trailer & Pressekonferenz

LINKIN PARK RECHARGE spielt in einer nicht zu weit entfernten Zukunft, in der die Menschen alle natürlichen Rohstoffe des Planeten verbraucht haben. Die Gesellschaft und was von den die kleinen Energiereserven noch übrig ist, wurde von Maschinen und einer elitären Minderheit und Kontrolle gebracht. Spieler bekämpfen ihre Unterdrücker und laden die Welt mit sauberer, erneuerbarer Energie wieder auf.

Die Frage der erneuerbaren Energie liegen unserem Co-Entwickler Linkin Park sehr am Herzen. Im Jahr 2004 haben sie ihre Stiftung Music For Relief gegründet, die Menschen in Not hilft, die von einer Naturkatastrophe betroffen sind und außerdem unterstützen sie Projekte rund um erneuerbare Energien in deren Gemeinden. Mit ihrem aktuellen Projekt “Power The World” sammeln Linkin Park Geld um Familien in Haiti mit nachhaltiger Energie zu versorgen. Dieser Trailer und Pressetext wurde gestern auf dem offiziellen YouTube Channel von Kuuluu, der Firma, die Linkin Park Recharge erstellt, hochgeladen. Außerdem gab es ein exklusives und geheimes Presseevent im Tresor Berlin, bei dem Mike Shinoda und Joe Hahn dabei waren und der anwesenden Presse Rede und Antwort standen. Viel gefragt wurden sie nicht, aber immerhin erzählten sie knapp 6 Minuten über die Beweggründe und Ziele des Spiels, aber das ganze könnt ihr euch in dem Video unten selbst ansehen, dass vor Ort gemacht wurde, außerdem hab ich für euch noch ein paar Fotos und erste Artworks vom Spiel unter dem Video platziert!

Linkin Park für den Echo nominiert

Wie auch bereits für ihre letzten 4 Alben haben es Linkin Park wieder einmal geschafft. Auch 2013 sind Linkin Park für einen Echo in der Kategorie “Rock / Alternative International” nominiert und treten dort gegen Genregrößen wie Green Day, Muse, The Rolling Stones und Billy Talent an. Von den bisher 8 Nominierungen konnten sie bisher 3 mit nach Hause nehmen, schaffen sie es auch dieses Mal?

Zu gegebenem Anlass werden auch Mike Shinoda und Joe Hahn vom 20.-21. März in Berlin sein, um erstens die Veröffentlichung von LIVING THINGS+ zu promoten und am 21. März der Echoverleihung beizuwohnen, außerdem wird zusätzlich zu dem LIVING THINGS+ Release am 22. März auch noch ein digitales CASTLE OF GLASS Singlebundle auf iTunes. Die dort enthaltenen Livetracks waren auch Teil der australischen Touredition von LIVING THINGS.

Und da war sie auch schon wieder zu Ende, die Soundwave/Australien/Neuseeland Tour. Mit dem letzten Konzert, dass vor ein paar Minuten endete gehen Linkin Park in Tourpause bis vorerst August, zumindest stehen bisher keine weiteren Daten an. DSPs: An Open Letter

Wie viele von euch wissen, veröffentlichen Linkin Park seit 2007 die Liveaufnahmen ihrer Konzerte, Anfang 2008 fingen sie damit auch in Deutschland an. Klar ist jedoch, dass es auch Aufnahmen von sehr vielen Shows gibt, die vorher stattfanden. LPLive hat jetzt zusammen mit 15 anderen Fanseiten den offenen Brief verfasst, den ihr unten nachlesen könnt, um eine Veröffentlichung eines Teils dieser alten Aufnahmen zu ermöglichen. Dieses Thema wurde in der Vergangenheit sehr häufig diskutiert und wir hoffen, dass dadurch endlich ein Fortschritt in dem stockenden Prozess erreicht werden kann.

Wenn ihr schon immer wolltet, dass eine bestimmte Linkin Park Show, bei der ihr zum Beispiel selbst anwesend wart, dann habt ihr jetzt die Möglichkeit etwas daran zu ändern: werdet aktiv, teilt diesen offenen Brief auf Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr oder sonstwo und helft uns, dass er gelesen wird, so dass auch endlich etwas passiert, vielleicht habt ihr dann bald die Möglichkeit eine der älteren Linkin Park Liveshows, die bisher nicht veröffentlicht wurde zu hören. Nun lest selbst:

LPLIVE: Hi everyone! Over course of the last week, we have worked on a letter to Linkin Park’s management about releasing older DSPs (pre-2007 shows). On LPLive especially, this topic has been discussed amongst fans quite a lot since 2007. On this letter, we have collaborated with 15 other Linkin Park fansites. Some of them you are familiar with and some you might not have heard of; now is a great time to check those sites out and see what they have to offer. Without them, this would not be possible.

Needless to say, if you’ve ever felt strongly about getting older Linkin Park shows released, now is your time to speak up. We know there are many of you who love the older Linkin Park shows just as much as we do. Drop a reply, send a tweet, get active on this topic.

We are writing to show our appreciation for the live shows released and sold by Linkin Park online as well as to bring up the possibility of releasing some older shows by the band.

The Linkin Park community is very thankful for the DSP (Digital Souvenir Package) concept, which allows fans around the world to relive their concert experiences over and over again. Introduced in July 2007 on the Projekt Revolution tour, live show offerings began with a live CD code available to purchase at a show. In 2008, the DSP program was introduced where fans could buy the show online (sometimes even with their ticket purchases), including the audio of the full performance and photos from the event at downloads.linkinpark.com.

The DSP program has continued to this day, including shows from 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The DSPs have become quite popular with fans of the band, encouraging discussions on every single show released (a whopping 229 shows as of March 2013).

Chester in 2008 commented,

“For those who get this thing, you know, our sets change, we play songs maybe one night that we don’t play the next, and so if you want to get those songs, you know, we encourage our fans to go on and trade them and kind of get to know each other and communicate and share and exchange things with each other, and this is one of those things that we would really like our fans to kind of do that with.”

Mike also said the same year during Projekt Revolution:

“Fans love it. I mean if you go to our Web site and you check out the message board we have a whole section dedicated to the fans who want to talk to each other about swapping those files and sharing their experiences of the show. For us, and you can kind of get a sense with the other bands as well, that for us and this whole tour it’s kind of about like let’s just see where it goes. We’re keeping our minds open to what happens every night, we try to make the set — more and more often we make it flow and feel, we feel out what the crowd wants us to do, we kind of jam a little bit. And with all that said, you know each show is a little bit different, sometimes a lot different. And that just makes for a better experience for the fans and it’s one that now, with that digital souvenir package that they can actually take home.”

Like Mike mentioned, there is a large online presence of LP fans who enjoy collecting and discussing these officially recorded shows, both on official LP websites and on the numerous fan sites across the web. Additionally, on these fan sites (forums and torrent sites as well), there are fan-recorded concerts of the band from 2000-2013 which fans trade, collect and listen to time and time again. Over the years, many fans enjoyed highlights of Linkin Park’s live performances due to the dedication of those who go out of their way to record shows. However, all too frequently the quality of these recordings is lacking.

Prior to 2007 when the live CDs started, only one full Linkin Park show had been released by the band – the CD/DVD “Live in Texas” in 2003. Nothing from the start of when Linkin Park began playing live to 2003 has ever been released and nothing from 2004-2006 has ever been released (from the “Live In Texas” period to the online live shows period starting in 2007). There have been occasional live songs tacked onto releases by the band (international singles + Linkin Park Underground CDs), such as a song from 2003 or a few tracks from 2006 for example.

With the “Hybrid Theory Studio Collection” release on iTunes (January 2013), ‘High Voltage’ live from the Wantagh, New York 2001 show surfaced – a show recorded by Linkin Park but never released in any form. Along with this show, we are aware of several older shows that have had songs released by Linkin Park, but haven’t been released in full:

With the DSPs, Linkin Park has only sold recent shows from the past few years (2007-2012). On the LP ARCHIVES: official tour bootlegs site (downloads.linkinpark.com), visitors see a list of “top 5” shows. Currently, the shows included in this list are New York City 2008 (the show featuring a surprise encore appearance by Jay-Z), Paris 2010 (the show featuring a surprise ‘A Place For My Head’ performance for Hybrid Theory’s 10th Anniversary), Berlin 2010 (the first show released with songs from A Thousand Suns), and Israel 2010 (the band’s first performance in the country). Obviously, the shows with more “importance” (like a special song, a song debut, a guest on stage, or the band’s first appearance in a country) are the shows which are purchased the most.

If you take a poll online, older tours like Projekt Revolution 2004 rank near the top of “favorite Linkin Park tours” with hardcore fans of the band and with the platform already there (downloads.linkinpark.com), the band has an outlet in which to release older shows to fans. Older shows contain highlights as well – Projekt Revolution 2002, for example, featured several guests during the show, a cover of ‘’My Own Summer’ by the Deftones and rare appearances of songs like ‘It’s Goin’ Down’ and ‘And One’. Additionally, the tour in Japan in 2006 featured ‘Reading My Eyes’ (only played live 8 times) and older shows (2001-2004) feature live songs which have never been released by the band like ‘Hit The Floor’ or ‘Forgotten’.

There should be no question about whether there is interest from Linkin Park fans, as the interest has been there for years (as you will see by the fansites listed below). A release of older LP shows would be very exciting for fans of the band and the band’s live performances. At the Incubus live site (http://incubuslivebootlegs.com), Incubus has a list of shows they recorded (even available in lossless formats) and fans can vote on which ones they want to be mixed and released. We are aware that a lot of shows are not able to be released due to contracts/restrictions by various groups like festivals, etc, but we do think there are at least a few older shows that could be mixed and released to the Linkin Park community. In conclusion, it would be great for fans to be able to enjoy some of these older performances by the band!

2-Track EP für den Record Store Day

Wie Loudwire und Modern Vinyl berichten, werden Linkin Park für den kommenden Record Store Day am 20. April eine 10″-Vinylsingle veröffentlichen, die auf 2.750 Pressungen limitiert sein soll.

Nach offiziellen Angaben handelt es sich bei dem Record Store Day Release von Linkin Park um den angekündigten Re-Release von Hybrid Theory. Das ganze kommt als 12″ Color Vinyl Gatefold mit Songtext Einlage. Als Bonus gibt es die angekündigte 10″ 2-Song EP mit ‘One Step Closer’ und ‘My December’ in einem Poster. Dieses wird die erste Veröffentlichung dieser Platte in über einem Jahrzehnt sein! Bei der 2-Song EP handelt es sich also quasi um ein Re-Release der 10″-Single von ‘One Step Closer’ ohne die B-Seite ‘High Voltage’. Ob Plattenläden in eurer Nähe teilnehmen, könnt ihr auf RecordStoreDay.com nachprüfen, wie viel die EP kosten wird, ist noch nicht bekannt.
